Backcountry Snow Cat Skiing
The Hard Working Engineers of E7Systems.com recently enjoyed a day of backcountry
powder skiing with the San
Juan Ski Company. SJSC Runs
snow
cats out
of Durango Mountain Resort. They really
sell two things Powder and Sunshine.

The Cat: Here you see the sunshine. The
sun shines 330 days a year around here.
On the other hand it snows too. I was
once caught in a snow squall in May climbing
the peak in the background (Graysill)

Here you see the powder. Keep in mind that
this was an early season trip before it
even
really
snowed
around
here. Bob (the proprieter) really knows
his way around back here. The day we skied,
there were no tracks on any of our runs
(not before we skiied them anyway).

Another satisfied customer. It has been
snowing quite a bitsince we had our
powder skiing day. I imagine that If you go cat
skiing with San Juan Ski Company at this
point you had better take a snorkel with
you. Make it a long one.

San Juan Ski Co is a fine day out for those
who like their backcountry skiing to be
really in the backcountry. I for one really
enjoyed being in the trees and the sunshine
of the San Juan Mountains of beautiful Southwest
Colorado.
Everyone in our Snow Cat was fun and we
spent very little time waiting for stragglers.
Perhaps that was because I was the one everyone
was waiting for while I searched for a lost
ski in the powder.
